Homer is 0-10 against Soldotna since May of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Mariners will host the Stars at 6:00 p.m. Homer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Homer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Kenai Central, who was ranked fifth at the time (Homer was ranked 11th). The Mariners came out on top against the Kardinals by a score of 12-7 on Friday. The Mariners' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Cohen Boyd, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Stanislaw, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Soldotna waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Kardinals.
Trenton Ohnemus looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Tucker Blough was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Homer's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Soldotna, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Homer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Soldotna struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Homer might still be hurting after the 17-7 defeat they got from Soldotna when the teams last played on Monday. Will the Mariners have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
