The Interboro Buccaneers will square off against Pope John Paul II at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Interboro took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Villa Maria Academy 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won four in a row.
Teagan Ladigoski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Interboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breanna Pszoniak, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another was Aubrey MacWilliams, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pope John Paul II had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They skirted past the Golden Bears 11-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Pope John Paul II considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
The team relied heavily on Alyssa Satalin, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Derecola, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Pope John Paul II hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Interboro's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Pope John Paul II, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Interboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .531. However, it's not like Pope John Paul II struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Interboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Pope John Paul II in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Buccaneers repeat their success, or do Pope John Paul II have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
