Ottawa-Glandorf barely beat Fort Jennings the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Titans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Musketeers a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The Titans not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024.
Nolan Duling looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Steckshulte, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Grant Leopold, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Shawnee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John's.
Shawnee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tate Bender, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Ottawa-Glandorf's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Shawnee, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Shawnee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Ottawa-Glandorf has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Shawnee, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Ottawa-Glandorf keep running through batters, or will the Indians buck the trend?
Ottawa-Glandorf might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Shawnee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
