Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Starr's Mill

Starr's Mill extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping them up to 21-2. They claimed a resounding 72-44 win over the Northside Patriots. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Lindsey Kopacek continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 17 boards. Kopacek is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Olson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 assists.

Starr's Mill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Starr's Mill is ranked 39th).

Northside's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jelayna Stewart, who posted 23 points. Quianna Hunter was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Starr's Mill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-26 victory against Central on the 10th. As for Northside, they have also already played their next matchup, a 59-30 win against Mundy's Mill on the 10th.
