West Henderson and Franklin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The West Henderson Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Franklin Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Henderson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Even though West Henderson has not done well against Pisgah recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Henderson walked away with a 47-39 win over Pisgah.
West Henderson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kayden Lyda, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Jania Wilson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Lyda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Allison Justus was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Franklin suffered their closest defeat since December 30, 2023 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Swain County by a score of 54-51.
West Henderson pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Everything came up roses for West Henderson against Franklin when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 67-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Henderson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
