After a string of three wins, the Tocoi Creek Toros's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 55-35 loss at the hands of Providence School. While losing is never fun, Tocoi Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Providence School is ranked 25th).
Mckenzie Mabry and Gabi Iturralde certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Mabry scored ten points, while Iturralde scored 13 points along with five steals. Iturralde hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Audrey Beyer was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Tocoi Creek's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Providence School, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tocoi Creek will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Atlantic Coast at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Atlantic Coast's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests. As for Providence School, they will head out on the road to take on Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
