Given Miami Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Edison Private is ranked 786th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miami Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sebastian Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chris Bravo, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, True North Classical Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 75-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elite Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jasen Lopez, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Boosie Swan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Miami Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for True North Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
