Last Friday, everything went Eastmont's way against West Valley as Eastmont made off with a 34-12 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Austin Zelinski and Bodie Yale. Zelinski gained 140 total yards and two touchdowns while Yale rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Yale really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
One reason for the win was Eastmont's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Tyson Gonzalez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, Mead gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Shadle Park by a score of 28-20. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Highlanders are ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
