A feisty cat fight will be fought as Kennedy Cougars duke it out with West Park Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Kennedy has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while West Park will arrive with four straight victories.
Kennedy came up short against Antelope on Monday, falling 18-5.
Diego Avalos-Daniels was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, West Park earned a 12-7 win over River City on Monday.
Caleb Peck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jesse Palmer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Oliver, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
West Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.
Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for West Park, their record now sits at 11-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kennedy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
