The Sickles Gryphons will venture away from home to challenge the Alonso Ravens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sickles has five straight wins, Alonso has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Sickles had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Tampa Bay Tech on Thursday. The Gryphons were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Titans. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won eight matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Morrissey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Mathews, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Lorea Dieguez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Sickles hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Alonso came up short against Steinbrenner on Thursday and fell 6-1.
Alonso saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Araujo, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Sickles' record is now 13-9. As for Alonso, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Alonso's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sickles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Alonso, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Sickles' hitters?
Sickles suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Alonso when the teams last played back in February. Can the Gryphons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
