Pine View extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping them down to 5-20. They lost 13-6 to the Canyon View Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-5 back in March.
Genevieve Evans made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Brenika Frandsen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
As for Canyon View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.
On Canyon View's side, Maisy Brady made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Brady has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Canyon View let Addi Rushton and Payton King run wild. Rushton got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while King went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Rushton has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Madison Quintanilla, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Pine View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon View, they will face off against Manti at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Templars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
