The Delta Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Northeastern Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Delta was handed an 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past New Castle 9-7. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.
Delta got a big performance out of Everly Carter, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Carter a new career-high. Caidyn Freiburger also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Northeastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Knightstown on Monday, taking the game 7-3.
Hailey Elsrod spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Isabella Peed was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Allen, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Northeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
The win was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Northeastern, their record is now 4-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Delta hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Delta came up short against Northeastern in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 12-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
