Portville has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Randolph Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Portville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Randolph is ranked 58th).
Portville suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Frewsburg by a score of 46-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Portville in their matchups with Frewsburg: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Randolph put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Frewsburg with points to spare, taking the game 60-44.
Portville's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Randolph, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Portville suffered a grim 59-38 defeat to Randolph when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Portville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
