Christ the King has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Community School of Davidson Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Christ the King will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Community School of Davidson is ranked 113th).
Last Friday, Christ the King had just enough and edged Winston-Salem Prep out 13-10.
The critical scores for Christ the King came from JP Zimmerman and Jack Yenichek.
Meanwhile, Community School of Davidson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four two weeks ago. They really took it to Winston-Salem Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-6 win on the road. With Community School of Davidson ahead 35-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brandon Albert continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 265 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Albert was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Ferguson, who threw for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only five passes.
Their wins bumped Christ the King to 4-4 and Community School of Davidson to 7-1.
Christ the King took a serious blow against Community School of Davidson in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 49-7. Thankfully for Christ the King, AJ Sirianni (who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
