Baseball Recap: Buckingham's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Buckingham strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against the Randolph-Henry Statesmen as they made off with a 14-4 win. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Avery Schaeffer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Schaeffer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ethan Walter was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Trey Jones was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Buckingham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Buckingham's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Randolph-Henry, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Buckingham will challenge rival Nottoway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Randolph-Henry is set to square off against their familiar foe Lunenburg Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
