Justin Gombotz and Scott McLeod provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Northwest Catholic. The longest such play in Central Connecticut III East this season, the connection resulted in 60 yards.
Justin Potts of Platt ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against Weaver last week. Potts' team defeated the Beavers as he sprinted for 85 yards on the play and finished with 117 in all.
Berlin's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gombotz threw for 60 and one touchdown and McLeod had 67 yards receiving. On the ground Gombotz chipped in 153 yards. Tyler Bouchard helped Berlin's passing attack out by catching five balls for 53 yards.
The Redcoats' Mitch Williams and Bouchard have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 663 yards this season, while Bouchard, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 16 catches for 276 yards. Platt's Potts leads the league in rushing yards with 794.
A big matchup in Central Connecticut III East this week will be when Berlin takes on Rockville. At the moment, John Capodice's team is in first, while the Rams are in fourth.
The Redcoats extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Indians, 27-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
