The Columbus International Lions lost against the Northland Vikings back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Columbus International fell just short of Northland by a score of 48-45. It was the first time this season that Columbus International let down their fans at home.
Despite the defeat, Columbus International saw an underclassman step up: Leila Carter dropped a double-double on 32 points and 24 rebounds. Carter scored a full 71.1% of Columbus International's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Annazai Ingram-cross, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Columbus International were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Columbus International's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3. As for Northland, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus International will take on Cristo Rey at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cristo Rey comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Northland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Lancaster presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northland in Ohio (Lancaster is ranked 226th, while Northland is ranked 678th).
