Independence came tearing into Thursday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the East Mecklenburg Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. In other batting news, Independence got a massive performance out of Emma Wrangham, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Wrangham a new career-high. Seven Hope also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Independence pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for East Mecklenburg, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.
