Baker had a senior duo take command as Anthony Ortiz went 8-for-11 to rack up 21 points and Alex Gomez shot 86% from the field on his way to 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gomez has scored all season. Alex Amador was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Immanuel Christian strolled past Trona with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 64-45. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Immanuel Christian found their leader in freshman Mazyn Weaver, who almost dropped a triple-double with 29 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Weaver's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Romelle Harris, who went 6-for-15 en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.
Baker's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Immanuel Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Baker has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 21.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Immanuel Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
