It was a good run, but the Wilby Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 87-71 to Waterbury Career Academy. Wilby has struggled against the Spartans recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Waterbury Career Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaire Lott, who scored 35 points along with two steals and two blocks. Lott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Williams, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds.
Wilby's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilby will face off against the Presidents at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Harding focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Cross is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Spartans a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
