In what's become a running theme this season, Fisher Catholic gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-19 win over Bishop Rosecrans at home. Given Fisher Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Bishop Rosecrans is ranked 656th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fisher Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Bruce, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 11 rebounds, and ten blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Voni Bethel, who shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 60-14 victory over East. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Notre Dame has posted against East since December 22, 2020.
Ella Kirby continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Gracie Ashley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Fisher Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Notre Dame, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's match: Fisher Catholic have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Notre Dame, though, as they've been averaging only 4.3 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fisher Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 44-37.
