After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ninety Six, Pelion was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Saluda Tigers, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Pelion got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 19-25, 25-13, 21-25, 15-9.
Alexia Hansen paced Pelion's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hansen got some help from Hayley Maxwell and her 19 assists. Hansen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Pelion's win bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for Saluda, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
