The Carl Hayden Community Falcons waltzed into Friday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 79-38 victory over Gila Ridge. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Carl Hayden Community has managed all season.
Santino Esquivel was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damiani Mitchell, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Carl Hayden Community pushed their record up to 4-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Gila Ridge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carl Hayden Community will face off against Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Carl Hayden Community likes a good challenge. As for Gila Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cibola presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gila Ridge in Arizona (Cibola is ranked 109th, while Gila Ridge is ranked 279th).
