TOPEKA, Kan. -
Holton (Kan.) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 31-14 victory over
Hayden (Topeka, Kan.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Andrew Rieschick in the second quarter, the Wildcats were up 20-7 at the half.
Holton saw its 13-point halftime lead decrease to five entering the fourth.
The Wildcats came in giving up 16.7 points per game this season. Hayden had a hard time against Holton's offense, who entered the game scoring 33.6 points per game. Holton came into the game allowing 8.9 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Wildcats came away with a 27-0 victory.
The loss comes after Hayden defeated Royal Valley 21-0 last week. The loss broke Hayden's three-game winning streak.
