The Highland Huskies will head out on the road to take on the Timnath Cubs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Highland will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Highland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 89-49 victory over Frontier Academy at home. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Frontier Academy is ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carson Steinke, who scored 21 points. Steinke's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Morgan, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Timnath posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 53-16 victory over Brush. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Timnath had established a 27 point advantage.
Highland pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for Timnath, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Everything came up roses for Highland against Timnath in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 88-44 victory. With Highland ahead 52-20 at the half, the game was all but over already.
