Omaha North hasn't had much luck against Bellevue East recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Omaha North will be playing in front of their home fans against Bellevue East at 4:30 p.m. Bellevue East took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Omaha North, who comes in off a win.
Omaha North's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Louisville with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Vikings not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024.
Chance Kinman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Colin Kinman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Bellevue East was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to Lincoln Northeast. The game marked the Chieftains' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Bellevue East also got a good showing from Connor Dolezal, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Bellevue East now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Omaha North, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Omaha North has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bellevue East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Omaha North couldn't quite get it done against Bellevue East in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Omaha North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
