Basketball Game Preview: Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators vs. Suffolk Christian Academy Knights

The Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators and the Suffolk Christian Academy Knights will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Greenbrier Christian Academy sitting on three straight wins and Suffolk Christian Academy on five.

Greenbrier Christian Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. Everything went their way against Summit Christian Academy as Greenbrier Christian Academy made off with a 38-15 victory.

Greenbrier Christian Academy relied on the efforts of Katelyn Balka, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards, and Bayleigh Kaliher, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those 18 points gave Balka a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Livia Smith, who had four points and four steals.

Greenbrier Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

While Suffolk Christian Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Portsmouth Christian with a sharp 49-27 win on Friday.

Suffolk Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Greenbrier Christian Academy strolled past Suffolk Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 45-30.
