The Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers waltzed into their game Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 57-39 win over Mercy. This was payback for Archbishop Spalding, who suffered a 55-32 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Spalding to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eden Berry, who scored 15 points. Whitley Watkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Archbishop Spalding's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Mercy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing St. Mary's the next time they take the court. Archbishop Spalding will host St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Mercy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
