West Brunswick lost against Ashley back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The West Brunswick Trojans fell 44-37 to the Ashley Screaming Eagle. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
West Brunswick lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Saniya Stanley, who posted six points in addition to 14 rebounds and three steals. Stanley has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahyra Mastry, who had 14 points.
Even though they lost, West Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
Jaeden Hudson was nothing short of spectacular for Ashley: she went 9 of 18 on her way to 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 26 points gave Hudson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Palyn Everhart, who put up three points and five steals.
West Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Ashley, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Brunswick will venture away from home to face off against Topsail at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashley, they will head out to square off against New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Hanover will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Ashley surely won't give up without a fight.
