The Sullivan Golden Arrows will be taking part in a tournament against the Martinsville Artesians at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sullivan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

Sullivan saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Living Water Homeschool by a score of 9-8. The loss was the Golden Arrows' first of the season.

Sullivan got a massive performance out of Jaylynn Hobbs, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Hadley Newton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Martinsville). Everything went their way against Indianapolis Lutheran on Friday as they made off with a 10-4 win. The Artesians have beaten the Saints the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Saints has come to flipping the script.

Ahvay Scholl was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Mya Lewis also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Martinsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Martinsville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Sullivan, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Sullivan's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Golden Arrows have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Martinsville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sullivan continue to outrun the ball?

Sullivan beat Martinsville 6-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Will the Golden Arrows repeat their success, or do the Artesians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
