The Summit SkyHawks will square off against the University Prep Jaguars at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Summit will be strutting in after a victory while University Prep will be coming in after a loss.
Summit took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Canyon Springs with a sharp 15-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the SkyHawks considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Ciarah De Angelis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. De Angelis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Arianna Munoz and Aaliyah Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Munoz went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Garcia went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Garcia has posted since back in April of 2025. Isabella Cardona was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Summit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, University Prep was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They fell 5-1 to Riverside Prep. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
University Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paityn Zimmerman, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
With the defeat, University Prep broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2. As for Summit, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Summit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like University Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Summit's way against University Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Summit made off with a 20-10 win. Do the SkyHawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
