Baseball Recap: Catholic Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Catholic won the last time they faced St. Augustine and things went their way on Friday too. Catholic came out on top against St. Augustine by a score of 7-2.

Catholic got a great performance from Mills Richardson as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Richardson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Clapinski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Davis Emonet was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. St. Augustine's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic will face off against Liberty Magnet at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. This will be Catholic's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for St. Augustine, they will challenge Archbishop Shaw at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Archbishop Shaw will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something St. Augustine surely won't give up without a fight.
