The Frisco Raccoons will head out to challenge the Emerson Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frisco has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Frisco came up short against Liberty on Friday, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raccoons have suffered against the Redhawks since April 9, 2019.
Bailee Hodnett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Emerson). They were the clear victors by a 27-1 margin over Heritage on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Mavericks, who have now won four games in a row.
Madison Fletcher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Maijala, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Gianna Lipsky was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Emerson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive contests.
Emerson's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Frisco, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11-1.
Frisco might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Emerson in their previous meeting on March 4th. Can Frisco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
