The Somerset Academy Panthers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They secured a 66-62 W over Piper. Given Somerset Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Piper is ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Henderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Jahlon Blain was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Somerset Academy pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for Piper, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy will take on Miami Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Miami Country Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday. As for Piper, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against McArthur at 7:00 p.m.
