After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Girard, the McKinley Red Dragons were happy to have found some success on Monday. They had just enough and edged Lakeview out 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win McKinley has posted yet this season.
Among those leading the charge was Katie Heinselman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Ferri, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
McKinley's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Lakeview, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKinley will take on Hubbard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeview will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Mathews at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mathews is on a three-game streak of home losses, Lakeview a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
