The Centreville Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 38-0 loss at the hands of James Madison. While losing is never fun, Centreville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while James Madison is ranked 15th).
Jourdan Simpson threw for 110 yards on seven of 13 attempts. Jahan Denny was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards.
James Madison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dominic Knicely led the charge by rushing for 55 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 72 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Yates, who threw for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Centreville has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 2-8 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for James Madison, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Centreville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. James Madison will be playing at home against Langley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Langley is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
