The First Coast Buccaneers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Mandarin Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. First Coast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 454th, while Mandarin is ranked 104th).
After a string of four wins, First Coast's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Stanton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mandarin lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Bishop Kenny, falling 56-18. Mandarin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-7.
First Coast's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Mandarin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
First Coast took a serious blow against Mandarin in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 64-23. Thankfully for First Coast, Ellie Jackson (who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
