Anahuac is 1-9 against Buna since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Anahuac Panthers will be playing at home against the Buna Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Anahuac is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Anahuac suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Orangefield 76-27. While losing is never fun, Anahuac can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 925th, while Orangefield is ranked 338th).
Meanwhile, Buna strolled past East Chambers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-40. The win made it back-to-back wins for Buna.
Buna's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Sherman, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Sherman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Jurik, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Anahuac has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season. As for Buna, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-8.
