Softball Recap: Granville Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Granville rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They skirted past the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs 14-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Horde.

Lillian Baker made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Baker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caroline Baker was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Joysie Velez was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Granville pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Coming up, Granville will challenge Stillwater at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Horde's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. Berne-Knox-Westerlo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
