Northern Illinois recap October 22, 2013
Hononegah moved up to 80 from 109 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northern Illinois. The Indians climbed the ranks as a result of besting Guilford 42-14.
Boylan added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Belvidere North, 38-34. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Titans.
Auburn's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Christian Lopez threw for 57 yards and Juwuane Parchman had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Phillip Trammell chipped in 229 yards. Trammell helped Auburn's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 25 yards.
Trammell was a passing and rushing force as the Knights topped Freeport. Trammell's key target this week was Parchman, who caught 3 passes for 32 yards.
Trammell was a force in the backfield as Auburn beat the Pretzels.
Lopez put up the best numbers through the air as Dan Appino's team bested Freeport.
5-foot-11 quarterback Tanner DiGiovanni of Harlem is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,077. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Parchman. The Auburn star has 18 catches for 370 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Boylan takes on Belvidere. John Cacciatore's team is in first place, while the Bucs are in sixth place.
The Huskies and Jefferson played the most contested game in Northern Illinois this week, with the Huskies eventually emerging with a 2-0 victory.
