The Provine Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Natchez Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Provine was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 23-18 to North Pike. Provine has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Provine got a solid performance out of JOHN WHITE, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 40 yards and a touchdown. DEONTAE BANKS made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Natchez's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 35-20 bruising from Florence.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaden Walton, who threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Provine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Natchez, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Provine was able to grind out a solid win over Natchez in their previous meeting back in September of 2016, winning 23-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Provine since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
