Softball Recap: Goleman Wins Going Away Against Flanagan

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mater Lakes Academy, Goleman was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Flanagan Falcons with a sharp 18-3 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-7 two weeks ago.

Goleman got a massive performance out of Olivia Mata, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Mata a new career-high. Aracely Escoto was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Goleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .839. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Goleman's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Flanagan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goleman will head out to square off against Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hi-Tides have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season. As for Flanagan, they will venture away from home to face off against South Plantation at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
