Beaumont is 0-3 against Cajon since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Beaumont Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Cajon Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Beaumont's strategy against Redlands on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Beaumont blew Redlands out of the water with a 59-0 final score. Beaumont pushed the score to 52-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Redlands had no chance of recovering from.
Myion Walker was on fire: he rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Trashawn James-reek was in the mix as well, providing Beaumont with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cajon made easy work of Yucaipa on Thursday and carried off a 32-8 victory.
Cajon relied on the efforts of Brandon Rivers, who gained 157 total yards and two touchdowns, and Evan Powell, who threw for 368 yards and a touchdown. Jered Rennick also helped out as he racked up 114 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Yucaipa to a paltry 140 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cajon's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Damion Ortiz and his two sacks.
The win makes it two in a row for Beaumont and bumps their season record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 51.5 points. As for Cajon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Beaumont took a serious blow against Cajon when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 38-7. Thankfully for Beaumont, Jeyquan Smith (who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 37 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
