In a tight game that could have gone either way, Pike Central made off with a 56-55 win over Heritage Hills. The victory was all the more spectacular given Pike Central's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Heritage Hills is ranked 37th).
Julian Gish continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Quade Morton, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Heritage Hills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trent Sisley. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 41.8% of Heritage Hills' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Gray, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Pike Central and bumps their season record up to 6-7. As for Heritage Hills, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pike Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wood Memorial at 8:00 p.m. on January 13th. Wood Memorial will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Heritage Hills won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tecumseh at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. Tecumseh is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
