The Fairfax Lions lost to the Woodson Cavaliers back in January of 2023, but the Fairfax Lions didn't allow the Woodson Cavaliers the same satisfaction on Thursday. Fairfax sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-37 win over Woodson. The team ran away with 30 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
It was another big night for Cam Love, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Thomas, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Woodson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Theo Burke. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Burke pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylen Chilton, who scored seven points.
Fairfax has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Woodson, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Fairfax will head out on the road to face off against Lake Braddock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Potomac Senior at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
