Ashley moved up to 237 from 288 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Mideastern.
New Hanover extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Pinecrest, 42-24. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Wildcats.
5-foot-11 quarterback Josh Taylor of New Bern is the league leader in passing yards this season with 983. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, Ashley's Quincy Rhodes has rushed for 830 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Carlos Mack. The Laney star has 15 catches for 339 yards.
The marquee game in 4A Mideastern this week will be the clash between New Hanover and the Bears. Kevin Motsinger's team comes into the matchup ranked seventh in the state, while New Bern ranks second.
Hoggard took down Q Foundation Academy 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
