Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyview). Everything went their way against the Thornton Trojans on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.
Isaiah Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Skyview is 3-1 when Rodriguez posts three or more RBI, but 5-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Andrew Casillas and Joseph Trujillo did most of the damage at the plate: Casillas went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Trujillo went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Casillas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Esquivel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Skyview's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Thornton, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.
