Olive Branch and Lake Cormorant are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but likely not for long. The Conquistadors will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Cormorant at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Olive Branch didn't have quite enough to beat Center Hill and fell 18-17. The Conquistadors haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Alissa Jenkins made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Cedajah Woodson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, while Lake Cormorant put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Water Valley. Lake Cormorant blew past Water Valley 15-0. Considering Lake Cormorant has won eight contests by more than 11 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lake Cormorant got a massive performance out of Alivia Burns, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Burns a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brylee Gardner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lake Cormorant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Water Valley only posted an OBP of .200.
Olive Branch now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Lake Cormorant, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6-1.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Olive Branch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Lake Cormorant struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Olive Branch suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Lake Cormorant when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Conquistadors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
