The Coral Park Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to American 42-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coral Park in their matchups with American: they've now lost three in a row.
Coral Park's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ivana Montoya, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Gianella Carmenate who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. Carmenate continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Vivas-Acevedo, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Coral Park bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for American, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Coral Park will head out on the road to face off against Sunset at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for American, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
