The Horizon Prep Lions were the 27-20 winner over the Borrego Springs Rams when they last played one another back in August of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Horizon Prep was beaten by Borrego Springs 59-21 on Thursday. Horizon Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-7.
Borrego Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Urquidez, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Urquidez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Brody White did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Horizon Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Borrego Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon Prep will challenge Julian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Julian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Borrego Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Ocean View Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Ocean View Christian is ranked 90th, while Borrego Springs is ranked 71st).
